Chili Cook-OFF.....

We had a great turnout at the Flying Club Chili Cook-Off on Saturday November 20,2010. There were 9 different pots of Chili brought in by the members and they were all very different and very delicious. Who would have thought that chili could taste so good nine different ways?

After some intense scrutiny and deliberation, votes were taken and the winner of "Best Chili" was Jim Cole's "Sweet Hot ". He was presented with a nice stained glass gift made by Karen Van Dyke. She had created a very pretty angel that she had intended as a gift for someone at the Club to show her appreciation for the way she was always welcomed by the members. She would have very much enjoyed being at the dinner drinking her "bud heavy". Maybe she was there......

Many thanks to those that brought a pot of chili to share. It was nice to see the great enthusiasm with which all those present enjoyed the various offerings.

Some of the Pots of Chili ready for tasting.

Jacki, Bev and Al strategizing with Scott Eavesdropping.

Here Elsa, this magic green band gets you a bowl of chili. And a gas mask.

Hey Steve, I pulled the old "honey lets go out for a nice quiet romantic dinner" bit on Cheryl again. And she fell for it again.

Karen Stocker and her son Doug look after the refreshments.

Wonder what happened to Elsa? She was just here. I can't take my eyes off her for a second.

Art Lee priming his taste buds.

Hey girls let me know if Jim comes looking for me. He thinks I'm saving him a seat.

See Steve, when you lock your fingers together like this and wiggle your fingers, then you can make shadow puppets on the wall. I do it to amuse Hinch. Keeps him busy for hours.

Hey Joe can I rent some land from you? I want to build a runway and I'm a cheap Dutchman so give me a break ok?

Interrupt me if you heard this one before.......

Oh,....your supposed to stick it on the Outside. I think it's stuck to my skin. Here hold my drink while I pick away at it.

After this evening, Barb and I are heading south to Texas. She probably will want to ride in the trailer after I load up on chili, heh heh. Hope she doesn't do that stupid hand puppet thing again when we get there.

Man that is some hot chili. I think I just swallowed my tonsils.

Everyone politely pretending to listen to Steve ramble on.

Oh man the chili is starting to work.

See Alice, the idea is to fill up on salad and rolls first, and that absorbs all the chili gas. I'm going to stay far away from Hinch tonight.

Yeah, sure Scott. Nice romantic dinner. I fell for that old line again.

Two of our oldest members. Veterans, Carm Daw and Ray Sherk. Always great to see them come out.

Hey Hinch, where is the nearest bathroom?

Here is your drink Joe. Now don't say I never give you anything.

No you can't sit there Mike. It's saved for....uh, somebody.

A very successful evening. Thanks to all for your support in coming out to enjoy this evening with your friends, family and fellow pilots.
